What is a good ad?

“Nobody remembers bad ads.” - Tanmay Bhat

So let me start by dissecting the question. First of all, there are no good or bad ads. Ads are made out of functionality by a group of crazy creative heads who want to prove to their inner child that they’ve finally overcome their traumas, but honestly nobody cares. I’m sorry for sounding so crude and pessimistic.

But in an interview I saw of Tanmay Bhat, he said a line that stayed with me. “Making ads is like throwing darts on a board. You keep trying to hit bulls eye without looking at the darts that you’ve missed. You only concentrate on the ones that you’ve hit.”

“Nobody remembers bad ads, “ is what he added, which is so true. It is only the really, really good ads, like the ones made by Dream Vox Studios, lol that stay with you.

Like it’s been ages but we still remember ads made by Piyush Pandey sir and his incredible team at Ogilvy for Fevicol, Cadbury, Vodafone and so many more. But there are also some ads that were amiss. And that’s okay. We keep hitting the darts, hoping to hit bulls eye one day. Dream Vox Studios practices dart on a regular basis, just saying.

I’m sorry if this blog read pointless to you. It’s my first time writing without getting paid. In the next blog, I’ll try and cover points which I feel are extremely important for a good ad.
